The next day we finished packing, loaded all of the kids into the cars and drove a few hours north to a campground near the base of Mt. Whitney, the highest point in the continental US. This would get us just a couple of hours from Yosemite and allow us to get into the park early enough to get a campsite. The kids enjoyed exploring all of the rocks around our campsite and eating Danny's famous "backpacker pizza."
